Retired teacher supports Montgomery, Munoz in Bayonne ed board race

As a retired teacher and former president of the Bayonne Teachers Association, I have more than a passing interest in this year's Bayonne school board election. I understand the issues facing our schools and our community and I think we need strong, independent leadership to tackle the difficult challenges of recruiting a dynamic and qualified superintendent, resolving, once and for all, the longstanding and persistent imbalance in our teachers' salary guide, improving morale among our school employees and getting our district's financial house in order.

I've had an opportunity to meet and speak with several of this year's candidates and I am most impressed with Sharma Montgomery's grasp of the issues, her commitment to our community, her willingness to undertake the difficult work to improve our district and her independence. Frankly, Sharma is dedicated to working together to make our district the best it can be and she is willing to put in the effort to understand the issues and work hard to develop responsible solutions.
Likewise, I've met Chris Munoz as he campaigned for trustee. I'm impressed with his service on the board and find him to be concerned, well-informed and fair in his dealings.

When you cast your vote for Bayonne school board trustee, please consider each of the candidates, their motivation for running and their dedication to our community. I'm impressed by the independent candidates in the race. I prefer trustees whose allegiance is to our students, our teachers and our families. I'm certain that Sharma Montgomery and Chris Munoz will do an outstanding job for our Bayonne students.

Lisa Cerbone, Bayonne
